History
Naval Electricity

Egemin Automation was founded in 1947 in Antwerp, Belgium, and originally performed naval electricity repair works in the harbour of Antwerp (Electricité GEnérale pour la Marine et l'INdustrie). Throughout the fifties and the sixties Egemin Automation mainly focused on industrial electrical engineering.

First Change of Course

At the end of the sixties Egemin Automation changed its course a first time by realising its first projects in automation (of gas stations) and materials handling. Thanks to the success of these activities, Egemin Automation was able to take its first steps for the later international breakthrough near the end of the seventies. In 1983, Egemin Automation was awarded with the first Flanders Technology prize for its cutting edge technology.

International Expansion

The nineties were characterised by a steady growth in which Egemin Automation evolved to a Western European mini multinational, a leading automation provider in several niche markets.

Egemin Automation's international expansion continued in 2000 through the acquisition of Schlafhorst Automation Inc. in the United States, which made Egemin Automation a genuine transatlantic automation player. In 2001, Egemin Automation moved into brand new headquarters and established an R&D centre. By doing so, Egemin Automation consolidated its growth strategy.

Expansion towards Central Europe and Australasia

In the meantime, expansion of the Egemin Automation Group towards Central Europe and Asutralasia has begun. In this way, the Egemin Automation Group is fully able to provide worldwide assistance to its customers
